Here are some snapshots of what we did this week!
We celebrated the 50th day of school and thanks to Cara Carroll's amazing 50th day packet we had a blast making these cuties after we learned about life in the 1950's and then compared and contrasted it to life today:

Mr. ed and the Sting of ing paid us a special visit and introduced us to the -ed and -ing word endings! I made up these characters my first year of teaching: Mr. ed is old and talks in a old voice as he kicks the letters e and d at the end of a word when it happens in the PAST! The Sting of ing is young and talks very fast as he stings the end of a word with ing when the it is happening now! My kids L-O-V-E these guys! I also have created 2 songs for them that I hope to share with you soon! My kids have been singing the songs nonstop this week as they have been practicing reading and writing words with -ed and -ing.
I told the kids that Mr. ed and the Sting of Ing love to draw and made posters to help us remember what each of them mean. These fantastic posters are from The Teacher's Wife and if you don't have her ed and ing unit, you need to go buy it now! It's so good!Get these posters from The Teacher's Wife ed/ing unit {here} |
I also used the ing and ed room hunt from The Teacher's Wife ed/ing unit this week. The kids thought it was hilarious that Chunky Monkey had the word singing stuck to him! :)

I was so proud of my kids in their writing from my If a Turkey Could Talk... craftivity! They were so motivated as they wrote and the projects turned out great! I love how they make the hallway look so festive!
